st. dennis street

July 2, 2009

this is st. dennis street, or at least a fracture of it (sorry lar, lousy phototaking skill, can only take what my eyes can see)

st dennis street during christmas

st dennis street during christmas

it was christmas eve when the bunch of us walked down this street, and then walked back up again. we were all looking for just one thing: a nice hang out place. since all of us rode all the way from fredericton to montreal, we really want to celebrate christmas differently.

and by different, i meant getting wasted. there weren’t many pubs opened during the night before christmas. and we girls are not heading down st. catherine’s street for the infamous tiger show and striptease. so, st. dennis it is.

and we finally found ONE bar that is opened:

the pub.. taken whilst sober

the pub.. taken whilst sober

and as fate had it, i was konked out that night. more than tipsy, more than high. my world was spinning and i couldn’t walk straight. and my point is? i miss the fun days i had when i was still studying my butt off.

second thought

May 27, 2009

all the while, i’d always wanted to dash to the cinema and grab myself a ticket for that tom hanks movie everyone’s talking about? yeah that one!! the one about angels and then about the demons.

now, the one thing that is holding me like a straitjacket from rushing to the theater is the fact that i am not done with the book. there is always this thing with me bout movies created based on novels. i have to read the book before watching the movie (well, except for LOTRĀ  — too long and i lost patience) because i want to scrutinize the movie and critically compare the scenes on screen to the scenes on paper.

but anyways, i am almost halfway through the book, at the part where langdon and vittoria were flown to the vatican city escorted by some funny looking swiss guard, yeah still early and way before all those, and i quote steph “people running around in circles only to realise that the culprit behind all this is right in front of their eyes”.

now upon reading stephy’s review on the movie, i hesitated, and then i ponder. should i pay ten bucks just to see people running in circles and then realizing the bad guy is actually all along someone they knew?? this is old, you know, this kind of plot!!!

come on!! if this is the end of the story, then dan brown doesn’t have to write another book. cause isn’t this the same as the da vincci code???? langdon ran round and round just to realize the sir-what’s-his-name whom he highly respected is the mastermind behind all sinister plans.

*sigh* and now it makes me hesitate in finish the book, too. but no worries. i’ll finish what i had started. will still read it through and then decide whether to hit the cinema for the show. and i prophesied that i won’t, as most likely i’ll pirate it over the internet.

but it does give me second thought on catching the movie at the theater. it does.

kelip kelip

January 6, 2009

just to prove that my life is hip and happening at the tender age of 24, let me briefly talk bout the wonderful outing i had last saturday, which subsequently contributes to my unending bouts of food poisoning and allergy reaction.

so i had fun, right… a group of us head out to kuala selangor for nothing other than food and fire flies. being a semi city girl, i’ve seen fireflies before. but not in bulk. so naturally i was hyped and being all kiddish again.

so to really summarize everything: we had seafood (which i’m allergic too, yeah!!! but who cares, right?? my tag line? eat now die later), after seafood we head out to kampung kuantan to disturb the ecosystem. and then afterwards we head back down to mud city to sleep.

and what’s next?? pictures for all of you lar…. lazy to tag the pics. so just browse it lar. no more questions asked.

wish list

December 17, 2008

have you got your christmas wish-list ready?

i’ve got mine ready.

can’t wait for christmas and the break following christmas.

away and back

December 12, 2008

2 nights of charitable spirit, 2 nights of giving back to mother nature. i’m very much sure that the mozzies of Gracehill Lodge are preparing their medal of honor for their most generous food donor – me.

yes. obstinate is an understatement to describe me. but i just don’t have a pair of track pants and i brought along the most comfortable pair of shorts and t-shirt, which both happened to be in dark colors, oh and not to mention my black jacket too…. but it’s all these mozzie bites and insect infested place that livens up your memories. like i had fun counting the amount of mosquitoe bites per leg, and laugh it off.

but seriously, the mozzie attacked mercilessly. now, i’ll have to cover the fair legs of mine with jeans until the red dots subsided.

but overall, kudos to those who worked their ass off for this camp. great fun we had, and i have never felt so relaxed before (well, there are moments of crankiness, but it’s ok…. we all go through it). it really is a vacation away from the dreaded city life and away from the stressful workplace. ah!!!!!!! peace and serenity for once.

and now that i’m back to mud city, i’m not exactly sure if i’m ready to face the amount of work lined up for me… but i shall brave it. december’s coming to an end. in fact 2008 is coming to an end. and i can’t wait till christmas!!

weekend warrior

October 13, 2008

so how did your weekend go???? i have a rather out-of-the-norm busy weekend. not that i’m fretting over some obligated stuff, but rather been having some fun this past weekend. and i’m not complaining.

but i guess the highlight of the fun boils down to last night’s IndoChine Staff Raya Party. i had the honor to accompany my roomie to the event, as it was a ciggy-alcohol sort of party, her little baby bro was not allowed in (by her). the event itself was…. boring, if i may say, but err… food’s good (?)

they had games though, lame games i’d say, cause i can’t participate in any of those…. okay. first there’s the musical chair that was only played by staffs, then the rest of the games that are opened to public were very ladies inappropriate. so i can’t limbo rock in a short dress, and i can’t chuck down 3 beers in on shot… so, i guess i had to just see them having fun. but the limbo rock, the boys had a heck lot of fun, and it’s hilarious!!

oh well, when the dance floor was openend, people streamed in to dance. not me… i wan’t intoxicated enough to let my hair down and shake my booty. but it was funny seeing how them dance. it can be a little boring at times as roomie had to run around and do some work, and striking a conversation with her colleagues was somewhat difficult at first (until we had a little of our drinks and warm up more after food).

the interesting part was towards the last bit of the party. it was still early, around 10 pm i suppose, and this old australian dude came up to me and strike a conversation with me. and towards the conversation, i was shaking my head inside thinking: why do i get picked up by an old dude!!!! ya i know i love white guys and all, but a retiree???????? but anyways, despite that, the old uncle was a chatterbox. asked for my number and i had to laugh off and say no. asked me to attend his launch party 2 weeks from now and i laughed off and said no again. poor dude. can’t get lucky that night. but well, a lady always leave gracefully, and i did ;)

well, we left at about 10:15 pm for home. thank goodness.. any longer in the bar i’d be bored. i’m just too old for this kinda stuff. LOL.. or maybe cause the kick weren’t there anymore, or cause i’m not accompanied by my lovely ladiees who’d rock their socks out anymore… my clubbing kaki not here lar!!!

so anyways, will post a lil bit of pictures here… just so that i won’t get complains of having long winded post without pictures.

ladies night out (left – right): moi, roomie, roomie’s colleague, rommie’s colleague’s sis

inside of the bar, behold the terra cotta!!!!!

the bar
a lady’s gotta do what a lady’s gotta do: camwhore, in the toilet!

ok lar… 4 pictures can liaw…. how to do the slideshow thingy ah??? cos i dunno how to…. so i can only post it one by one. sound retarded i know, but i’m not technologically savvy.

white water rafting

October 3, 2008

the experience: exhilarating.
seriously, driving all the way to Kampar (and then to Ipoh) and back to K.L after rafting is exhausting. i was completely konked out last night.. and felt as if i was body rafting in the river.

great adventure to begin with, i got my RM150 back by falling into the river twice at 2 of the drops with rapids. my gosh. i felt like i had died and came back to life. scary. and when all of us were asked to practice our body rafting (you know kinda like swimming in a current — scary!!), honestly, i freaked out and my legs turned jelly. but hey! a girl’s gotta to do what a girl’s gotta do!

so with the adrenaline pumping, and few minor scratches and bruises along the way, i’m back in one piece! thank God i’m able to drive back, and thanks to PB for being there with me during the journey back!

great experience comes with armpits pain. yes.. my muscles were sore, especially my underarms. but hey! i’m happy!! you know, breakthrough after breakthrough! what’s not to love about life?

p/s: i know what you guys will say: WE WANT PICUTRES!! sad to say, i’ve got no waterproof camera. so, once i get the pictures i’ll post them up here or on facebook. i’ll let you know when i have it, k? i promise.

MAMMA MIA!!!

September 29, 2008

mamma mia…. here we go again… my, my, how can i resist you!!!

OH. MY. GOSH!!! this movie is so freaking AWESOME!!!! so good that i want to watch another 10 trillion times and BUY the dvd (not download mind you, but i’ll end up pirating anyways)..

seriously, whoever that have not watched it, GO AND WATCH IT ALREADY!!!! Meryl Streep’s performance was AWESOME, so does Amanda Seyfried, Pierce Brosnan, and not to forget Colin Firth.. oh my goodness. i was singing with them throughout the whole movie.. it was LOVELY… very very lovely show… touching too!!!

it’s so good, i think i want to buy ABBA’s collection also liaw lar.. HAHAHA!!

anyways.. here’s the lyrics for mamma mia!

Ive been cheated by you since I dont know when
So I made up my mind, it must come to an end
Look at me now, will I ever learn?
I dont know how but I suddenly lose control
Theres a fire within my soul
Just one look and I can hear a bell ring
One more look and I forget everything, o-o-o-oh

Mamma mia, here I go again
My my, how can I resist you?
Mamma mia, does it show again?
My my, just how much Ive missed you
Yes, Ive been brokenhearted
Blue since the day we parted
Why, why did I ever let you go?
Mamma mia, now I really know,
My my, I could never let you go.

Ive been angry and sad about the things that you do
I cant count all the times that Ive told you were through
And when you go, when you slam the door
I think you know that you wont be away too long
You know that Im not that strong.

Mamma mia, even if I say
Bye bye, leave me now or never
Mamma mia, its a game we play
Bye bye doesnt mean forever

Mamma mia, here I go again
My my, how can I resist you?
Mamma mia, does it show again?
My my, just how much Ive missed you
Yes, Ive been brokenhearted
Blue since the day we parted
Why, why did I ever let you go
Mamma mia, now I really know
My my, I could never let you go

by the way, nah… the trailer of the movie…. let u have a feel of what greatness you will miss if you don’t watch it…

easy breezy saturday

April 21, 2007

Regular Saturday morning routine:

1. Boyce Farmer’s Market — inside of the market.. not like our wet market right, very clean and pleasant, no smell of chicken or fish or salted fish (unlike Kuching’s famous Sunday Market).
2. The famous Samosa Delite… in which I spent my first gruesome summer wrapping the samosas for them… and they give me only 25 cents discount… *sighs*
3. Outside of the market.. where you see lots of food vendors selling nice breakfast/brunch (depends how early you’re up) like sausage, burger, donair, bear paws, and etc.

4. After grabbing our food, it’s heading off to Timmies for our regular medium double double. Menu of the day: large tea 3 cream 2 sugar to go with the Hot Italian sausage with curry sauce, sauerkraut, and onions.

5. Victory Meat Market…. our regular grocery stores for cheap wholesale-priced meat and vegetable….

After Victory will be Sobeys… where the boys usually get their bread and juices or other food items that aren’t available in Victory.

downtown walk

April 20, 2007

so…. we (me & Therese) decided to take a LOOOONNGGGG study break and head downtown for a walk with Celine & Pierre-Yves…

with the nice weather, we can see lots of people heading downtown. the all along pretty “dead” city suddenly came ALIVE

bunch of people outside of Coffee and Friends, formerly known as Coffee & Company ——————->

<——— Topless skateboarder performing his stunt!!

And then we cross the bridge……. have a nice little afternoon walk, enjoying the lovely summery weather!!! Just to take the stress off our poor backs.

(Left to right) Pierre-Yves, Ting, Therese & Celine

It was enjoyable, fun, relaxing, etc, etc…… go to my msn space for more pics ;)
